Don't Be Afraid

Psalms 23:1-4 says that God is our light and our salvation so why should I be afraid.  The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?  You can read the entire script here.  This scripture also reminds me of another scripture in Psalms 23:1-7 which is the famous The Lord Is My Shepperd text and you can read it here.  The commentary connects to Psalm 23:4-5.  It says that even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.  Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.  I think the key is to stay very close to God when the darkest days hit.  I think fear hits me about things when I am far away from God.  That doesn't always mean backslidden or have given up on him but that just means that maybe you just need to have a good prayer meeting or a good bible study.  I know my worst times are first thing in the morning and before bed.  When I wake up it is sometimes hard to get motivated to pray and my mind starts to wander to my problems and that is when the worry hits.  I know myself and I know that worry is just a product of not praying enough and not trusting.  If you cast all your burdens and cares truly on the Lord he will bless you with this peace which passes all understanding.  Once you are surrounded by his peace it doesn't matter what the enemy throws at you.  You honestly can pray through anything and even though the circumstances haven't changed much at that time yet you will be able to handle it better because you have his presence and his peace.  The Bible commentary also says that we find power when we speak God's truth to ourselves.  When we are in the valleys of our lives make sure you have plenty of God's word stored up within your heart so that you won't be without his light.

God's word is light.  It says in Psalm 119:105 that his word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.  I will include the Bible Art for this picture.  I just made this one up by myself but if you are interested in Bible journaling or Bible Art there are some great youtubers to follow.  I watch Scribbling Grace who has a lot of great tutorials and free printables to get you started.  Modern Mess Princess is another great one.  I will mention more in a later post.  God Bless you all.
